A tragic accident on the Winneba-Mankessim Highway in the Central Region has claimed one life and left 14 others seriously injured.
The incident occurred around 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
The accident happened when the tyre of a Toyota Hiace, with registration number GW 7601-24, burst while travelling from Accra to Tarkwa.
According to eyewitness Suleman Mustapha, the driver descended a hill at high speed resulting in the incident.
The impact of the crash resulted in the death of one passenger on the spot, while 14 others sustained severe injuries and were quickly rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
ADO1 William Kwofie, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Mankessim Division, confirmed to the media that the deceased was found trapped beneath the vehicle.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
