President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the launch of the One Million Coders Programme as a transformative step toward building a modern digital economy and positioning Ghana as a future leader in the global tech landscape.

Speaking at the official launch on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, President Mahama described the initiative as more than a training programme, calling it a bold national commitment to digital innovation and economic inclusion.

The programme aims to equip one million Ghanaians with essential coding and digital skills over the coming years.

“This isn’t just a programme, it’s the foundation of a blue economy,” the president said. “We are sending a clear message: Ghana is ready to lead in the digital age.”

Mahama emphasized that the programme goes beyond fulfilling a campaign pledge. It is a central pillar of his government’s Reset Ghana Agenda, which seeks to drive inclusive growth through innovation, skills development, and technology.

“We’re telling our youth, our communities, and the world that the future is now—and Ghana will help shape it,” he stated. “This initiative is not just a promise delivered; it’s a strategic investment in our people and in the future of work.”
