Oyoko Methodist SHS Boys’ dormitory catches fire
Firefighters from the New Juaben North and South Municipal Fire Service successfully doused a fire outbreak at Oyoko Methodist Senior High School in Koforidua on Monday evening, August 4, 2025.
According to the GNFS, the unfortunate fire incident affected only the two-bedroom self-contained apartment occupied by the housemaster on the first floor of a one-storey building.
The fire destroyed the roof, ceiling, furniture, home appliances, and other personal belongings.
The adjoining boys’ dormitory was salvaged from the fire ruins by the swift intervention of the dexterous firefighters.
The GNFS received the distress call at 1824 hours and swiftly dispatched two (2) fire engines from the New Juaben North Municipal Fire Station and Regional Headquarters to the scene.

The first engine led by ADO I Asare arrived at 1834 hours, brought the fire under control at 1924 hours, and fully extinguished it at 2029 hours.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, although preliminary findings point to an electrical fault within the ceiling of the housemaster’s apartment.
