Parents who took six-year-old boy to herbal doctor for healing arrested
Three persons, including parents of a six-year-old boy have been arrested by the Kasoa Divisional Police for causing harm to a child.
The three are Gilbert Mensah and Gladys Mensah, who are the parents of the child and a herbalist.
The parents of the child are believed to have taken the boy to a herbalist after he fell sick and broke his right arm during a football match at Walantu, a suburb of Kasoa.
But things unfortunately took a sour twist when the boy’s hand begun to rot.
Residents became alarmed and reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kasoa Police Command.
“We received the complaint that a six-year-old boy has been abandoned by the parents, so we inquired from the people the whereabouts of the boy and they led police to where the boy was being kept.
“So, that is how we rescued the boy when we found out that the boy’s right arm is completely rotten and you cannot see the fingers.
“We sent him to the Kasao Polyclinic but he was transferred to the Saint Gregory hospital. Investigations have led to the arrest of the parents and herbal doctor,” ASP Doris Laryea Aggrey revealed.
The six-year-old boy (name withheld) has been admitted at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist hospital.
ASP Aggrey told Citi News that investigations have begun, and the police would ensure the culprits are made to face the full rigors of the law.
