Parliament has finally approved the nominations of Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister-Designate of Foreign Affairs; and Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister-Designate of Health.

Ten others were also approved following a rigorous debate and voting on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Despite approval by the House, the Minority Caucus vehemently opposed the approval of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for the Foreign Affairs portfolio by consensus.

Like Pontius Pilate, the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin speaking on the floor of Parliament said, “Give me water. We, the minority, wash our hands off the approval of Ablakwa. They should carry the sins of Ablakwa.”

“I want the Hansard to capture this in totality that the entire 88 MPs of minority hereby reject the nominee for the Foreign Affairs portfolio” he reiterated.
