Parliament approves Kofi Adams as Minister of Sports and Recreation
Ghana’s Parliament has approved the nomination of Kofi Adams as Minister of Sports and Recreation.
The decision was made on the floor of the House on Tuesday, together with Rashid Pelpuo – Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment; Joseph Nikpe – Minister for Transport; Murtala Ibrahim – Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology; and Sam George – Minister for Communications.
Adams was vetted last week by the Appointments Committee.
The 49-year-old is expected to be sworn in by the President John Mahama in the coming days.
Kofi replaces Mustafa Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports from 2021 under the New Patriotic Party, led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
He is expected to change the fortunes of the industry, including sports infrastructure, national team funding, and performance at major tournaments.
