Poems to mark world poetry day

I HAVE TWO MOTHERS:

Mama Lois

I have Two Mothers.

I have two mothers and I claim them both.

I loved them both for they are both mine.

One is biological and one is adopted.

They both really spoil me.

I have Two Mothers.

My first mother, Mama Lois, carried me here;

She gave birth to me, nurtured and groomed me.

I am her spitting image and wear her exact expressions.

She gave me the name Doris, which means the gift of God.

One gave me beautiful memories which still follow me,

Along with strict codes of conduct; discipline and integrity.

My second Mother kicked in with her love, as I became older.

We chat and laugh just as mothers and daughters do.

So, I am very lucky, I have two mothers to take care of me.

Auntie Essie Arthur (Big Mummy)

Big Mummy

I have Two Mothers.

My second mother is Big Mummy or Auntie Essie.

My Mothers are two different women who both love me

Two separate women with very diverse in backgrounds.

The first is a Fashion Designer, the second is a Teacher.

I have two Mothers.

Motherhood for me, is not only a biological function,

It also is a function of being there for a child all the time.

My mother Lois is the first, my mother Essie is the second.

When Mama Lois transited, Big Mummy Essie took me over.
