Police arrest two for posing as GoldBod taskforce members
The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for extortion and impersonating officials of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce.
The suspects, Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38, who claim to be former military officers, were apprehended following a complaint that they had been visiting various gold dealers under the false pretence of being Taskforce officials.
Items retrieved from the suspects included a pair of handcuffs, a canister of pepper spray, an electric shock device, a set of uniforms, and a cash amount of GHS 500.
They have since been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into police custody as investigations continue.
The Regional Police Command is urging the public to exercise caution and demand proper identification from individuals claiming to represent government agencies.
