Police kill 2 robbers during shootout in Accra
An armed robbery attempt in Accra was swiftly foiled by the Ghana Police Service following an intelligence-led operation on Monday, 15th July 2025.
The coordinated effort was executed by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters after receiving credible information about the movements of a gang of five suspected robbers.
According to the police, the group had lodged at a hotel in Labadi and were planning to rob a foreign national in the Cantonments area.
While on their way to execute the robbery in a Toyota Yaris, the suspects noticed they were being monitored and opened fire at the officers trailing them.
The police responded immediately, leading to a shootout. Sadly, one officer sustained injuries to his legs and underarm during the exchange.
He is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding well.

Two of the suspects were shot and later died at the Police Hospital.
The remaining three managed to escape, and a manhunt is currently underway to locate and arrest them.
Meanwhile the police recovered two pump-action guns loaded with ammunition, live cartridges, three mobile phones, talismans, and other items believed to have been in the suspects’ possession.

Speaking on the incident, the Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service said, “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to stay ahead of criminal activity. We remain committed to protecting lives and property”.
