Premier League confirm findings of investigation into Man City finances

The Premier League have confirmed they have submitted a list of over 100 alleged financial rule breaches from Manchester City to an independent commission for a final ruling.

City have been under investigation by the Premier League for a number of years following accusations of financial mismanagement related to inflated commercial figures which allowed them to navigate UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Now, the Premier League have publicly accused City of numerous rule breaches, beginning as far back as the 2009/10 campaign.

Between 2009/10 and 2017/18, City have been accused of failing to accurately report their financial information in each season, with various minor rules allegedly broken in the process.

There are also accusations of incorrect recording of manager payments for a number of seasons between 2009 and 2016 – the season before current boss Pep Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium.

Financial Fair Play concerns have been raised between 2013/14 and 2017/18, with Premier League rules stating all clubs must abide by UEFA’s financial regulations.

Finally, the Premier League have also accused City of failing to act properly during their investigation, alleging numerous infractions from the Manchester side between 2018/19 and the current season.

Evidence of the Premier League’s allegations will be submitted to an independent commission, which will be appointed by the independent Chair of the Premier League Judicial Panel, after which a final verdict will be published.
