Prez Akufo-Addo is not a democrat – Aseidu Nketia claims

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketia, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of being a despot, who wants to hide under the cloak of constitutionalism and law to implement dictatorship.

The NDC General Secretary insists President Akufo-Addo is not a democrat.

In an interview on 3FM’s Sunrise monitored by The Ghana Report , the NDC General Secretary stated categorically that every dictator in the world, uses the law to do the dictatorship in any country.

“That is what the President Akufo-Addo is doing, he is just looking for loopholes in the law to try to conduct dictatorship in the country, ” he explained.

He recounted the South African apartheid and observed that  the white minority in governing the country before 1994  were simply using the law to dictate to the South Africans.

Aseidu Nketia argued that one does not see any willingness on the part of the President to implement anything about democracy.

“They build democratic institutions, it is not democratic institutions that generates people who are democratically inclined so what is happening now is that he is misleading people into believing that this institution is here and then he goes looking for the loopholes to dictate, ” he said.

According to him, democracy is built by people who are democratically inclined and the President does not appear to be one of them.
