Respect yourself and step down – Alhaji Grunsah tells CK Akonnor

Bankroller of Ghana Premier League outfit King Faisal FC, Alhaji Grunsah has advised Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor to resign or face a possible sack from the GFA very soon.

The veteran football administrator becomes the latest figure to speak on this issue and will side with the majority of Ghanaians who have been calling for CK Akonnor’s sack since the team returned from Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The Black Stars exhibited an appalling and uninspiring display in their recent matches in the World Cup qualifiers beating Ethiopia and losing to South Africa in their opening two matches, leaving them second in Group G, tied on three points.

Speaking on Happy FM in Accra, Alhaji Grunsah has disclosed he has never supported the idea of appointing the former national skipper to lead the Black Stars and has urged him to respect himself and step down on his own. He said;

“CK Akonnor should respect himself and resign from the job than to be sacked.”

“The GFA will not compromise with CK and vice versa. When we appointed CK Akonnor I said he can’t do the job but an expatriate coach should be appointed.”

The ‘Insha Allah’ outfit despite the struggles managed to secure survival in the league and are looking to establish a redoubtable side for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
