Savannah records first COVID-19 case, national cases rise to 6,683  

After more than 10 weeks of resistance to COVID-19, the Savannah Region has recorded its first case, as the country’s coronavirus numbers jump to 6,683.

It also means that all five regions of northern Ghana have confirmed cases of coronavirus.

This means 14 regions in the country have all confirmed cases of the virus, leaving the last two Regions–Bono East and Ahafo-COVID-19 free.

The latest update from the Ghana Health Service shows that 66 new cases have been recorded in Ghana as of May 24, 2020.

The update also showed 20 more people have recovered from the deadly pandemic, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,998.

At least 83 health workers contract COVID-19 in Ghana

One more person has unfortunately passed on bringing the number of COVID-19 related deaths to 32.

The new cases have come from the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Western, Volta, Northern and Savannah regions.

Ashanti has 39 new cases; Greater Accra, 18; Central, Northern, Western and Volta regions recorded two new cases each.
