School Feeding Caterers to petition Asantehene, Chief Imam over contract termination
School Feeding Caterers have announced plans to petition influential personalities like the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, in an attempt to seek their intervention following the termination of their contracts by the incumbent government.
Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National School Feeding Caterers Association, Madam Margaret Larbi, speaking in an interview, said they believe an intervention from traditional and religious leaders can help solve the problem.
“Our President said we have petitions to be sent. We’re trying to get in touch with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene,” she stated.
“So, we’re trying to get him to go and plead on our behalf. We’re trying to go to the Chief Imam. We have a lot to do to send some petitions to other influential individuals in the country to be able to speak on our behalf,” she added.
Meanwhile, the secretariat has assured affected caterers that payments for the second term will be settled soon.
According to GSFP, the termination of the contracts is part of a broader restructuring exercise, and new recruitment guidelines will be shared soon.
“The GSFP Secretariat, as part of its ongoing restructuring exercise, will soon announce the modalities for the recruitment of new caterers for the programme,” the earlier statement from GSFP clarified.
