Sir John was a feisty politician – Mahama grieves

Leader and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has described the late former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, as a feisty and intriguing politician.

“He was a feisty and intriguing politician who brought lots of interesting moments to our political discourse.”

The former president in a Facebook post empathised with the family of the former Forestry Commission boss.

“I also extend my condolences to the entire New Patriotic Party (NPP) family for this painful loss.”

Sir John died in Accra on Wednesday evening while on admission at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for contracting coronavirus.

He died at the age of 63.

There has been reports that Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah, and campaign manager for the NPP, Peter Mac Manu have also contracted the virus.
