Speeding VIP bus kills 17-year-old motorcyclist

A high-speed crash involving a VIP bus has claimed the life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist on the Borae Kete-Krachi Highway in the Oti Region.

The fatal accident occurred in the afternoon on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, leaving residents in mourning.

Witnesses reported that the bus, registered as GW 6575-21, was travelling from Dambai to Krachi at high speed when it collided with the young rider navigating the highway.

The victim, identified only as Unyimbe, suffered severe head injuries and died instantly at the scene.

Distressed residents have since renewed calls for the construction of speed ramps to curb reckless driving and improve road safety in the area.

Meanwhile, police have visited the crash site and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are also urging drivers to observe speed limits and exercise caution to prevent further tragedies.
