Sulley Muntari urges Ernest Nuamah to stay at Lyon amid Premier League interest
Despite increasing interest from top European clubs, former Ghana international Sulley Ali Muntari has advised young winger Ernest Nuamah to stay at Olympique Lyonnais.
Nuamah, who joined Lyon from FC Nordsjælland, has been a standout performer for the French Ligue 1 team this season.
Before his injury, he was a key player, contributing six goals and two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
In an interview with AfricaFoot, Muntari praised the 20-year-old’s talent and potential but warned against making a move too soon.
“Ernest is a player of pure talent. He’s elusive with the ball at his feet, excellent in one-on-one situations, and capable of creating danger at any moment. He’s a true defensive dynamite with a remarkable mentality. Despite his injury, he’s generating interest because he’ll come back even stronger,” the former AC Milan and Inter Milan midfielder said.
Muntari believes Nuamah should continue his development at Lyon before making a leap to a bigger club.
“Regarding his future, I think he still needs to develop at Olympique Lyonnais before aiming higher. He’s young, a regular, and playing in an environment that’s conducive to his development. An additional season at OL could allow him to reach a new level before considering a move to a more prestigious club,” he added.
Nuamah, a graduate of the Right to Dream Academy, is reportedly on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Fulham, Everton, and Crystal Palace.
