Support 1D1F – Ghana to India

Ghana is requesting the support of India to partner the industrialization agenda which the government of Ghana is embarking on including its special initiatives such as One District One Factory, Planting For Food and Jobs, Value Addition, Skills Training Initiatives, One Village One Dam in a bid to ensure the economic transformation of the Country.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, at a farewell engagement with the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Accra, H.E. Birender Singh Yadav, at the ministry noted that in spite of the longstanding relations between Ghana and India dating back to some six decades ago “I’m hoping that you won’t forget us here in Ghana and that many more Indian businesses will come and invest. Am sure that you have worked quite a bit on getting us investment for our flagship programs the One District One Factory, the One Village One Dam, the Planting For Food and Jobs, and so on and so forth. These are areas for us that we believe we can receive more investments so I’m hoping that the projects that you have started will continue,” The minister told the Indian delegation.

She also noted that the government of India has implemented a number of major cooperation agreements and scholarships which have contributed tremendously to Ghana’s development and “improved the livelihood of our people through the awards of scholarships to a number of Ghanaian students to study in various universities and institutions of higher learning under the India Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) and call for an increase in the number of scholarships given to Ghanaians for capacity building programmes”.

The minister also conveyed on behalf of the government and people of Ghana, appreciation for the technical assistance India continues to provide to Ghana through various bilateral and multilateral programmes, including the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) and Special Commonwealth African Assistance Plan (SCAAP).

The High Commission of India in Accra has informed that H.E. Birender Singh Yadav, will be completing his tour of duty as India’s High Commissioner to Ghana on  January 3, 2020, to assume his next assignment as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Iraq.
