In a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon, February 13, a mobile money vendor named Patricia Nimako was shot and killed in Krofrom, a suburb of Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

The incident has left the local community shocked and afraid.

Eyewitnesses reported that two men arrived at Patricia’s shop on a motorcycle, seemingly to make a transaction.

A few moments later, they brandished a weapon, demanded cash, and shot her twice before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

“We rushed her to Manhyia Hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival,” Yaw Nsiah, an eyewitness, told Akoma FM’s Kwame Yeboah.

This violent incident has raised serious concerns about safety in the area, prompting local business owners to call for immediate action to address such crimes.

This unfortunate incident comes barely two weeks after two armed robbers stole over GH₵30,000 from a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, Clara Quainoo, at Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Armed with a gun and a knife, the robbers attacked the MoMo vendor around 7 pm on Monday, January 27, 2025, when she was closing up for the day.

Narrating the incident to reporters, Clara said the two armed men came with a motorcycle and attacked her and her sister.

“One of the robbers pointed the gun at my sister, and the other pulled out a knife and demanded we hand over our money,” she recounted.

She added that she sustained injuries on her left hand.
