There is heavy security presence at the Ningo Prampram constituency over intelligence that some groups are planning to distract the voting process.
The Prampram District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Issah Mohammed Cantona, Saturday morning held a DISEC (District Security Council) meeting to deploy over 100 Police and Military officers to the center.
According to him, anyone who tries to snatch ballot boxes will do so “at the peril of his or her life.”
The District commander’s warning comes on the back of claims made by the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Nartey George, that some persons are ‘shopping’ land guards into the constituency to disrupt the election.
Calm has been restored to the constituency and voting is ongoing.
According to the Electoral Commission representative, Charles Botwe Junior, 829 delegates from all the 89 branches in the constituency are expected to vote.
