Three dead following attack on cargo truck in Bazua
Three people have been confirmed dead following a gruesome attack on a cargo truck at Bazua in the Upper East region.
The deceased persons, all men, include the driver and two occupants. Two others were also rescued under distressing circumstances and are currently receiving treatment.
The brutal incident occurred when the truck, under military escort, allegedly broke down. The attackers then seized the opportunity to attack the occupants.

Meanwhile, the Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA), in a statement issued on July 9, 2025, strongly condemned the attack.
According to the association, such acts of aggression seriously undermine efforts to restore peace to the area.
“We respectfully call on the military high command to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the cargo truck and its occupants by the designated escort team. This incident represents a grave lapse in judgement and duty,” excerpts of the statement noted.
“The people affected were not just passengers; they were Ghanaian citizens, deserving of safety and dignity, especially under the escort of a force tasked with safeguarding them.”
The youth are therefore demanding justice for their fellows.
Authorities are yet to comment on the attack.
This comes at a time when national mediation efforts, led by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and supported by the government, are underway to bring peace and stability to the region.
