The National Tripartite Committee has officially started negotiations to set the 2025 Minimum Wage.
The talks began on Monday, February 3, 2025, marking a crucial step in establishing wage standards for the upcoming financial year.
Once the minimum wage negotiations are concluded, discussions on base pay for public sector salaries will follow.
However, both negotiations are behind schedule.
According to the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, they were originally expected to be completed by the end of April 2024.
This delay is causing concern about its potential impact on the 2025 Budget planning process.
In response, the government is urging social partners including employers and organised labour to fast-track discussions to ensure timely resolution.
The committee is made up of representatives from the government, employers, and organised labour/associations.
Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu stressed the importance of completing the negotiations quickly to provide essential financial guidance for the upcoming fiscal year.
