A truck transporting second-hand clothes was destroyed by fire on the Accra-Kumasi highway near the Paradise Exclusive Resort at Bunso on Wednesday afternoon, causing panic.
The incidence also disrupted traffic.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started suddenly, rapidly engulfing the vehicle and its cargo.
Fortunately, the driver and his assistant managed to escape unscathed.
Despite the swift response of firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire consumed the entire consignment before it could be brought under control.
Some bystanders expressed frustration, criticising the firefighters for what they saw as inefficiency in handling the situation.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, with faulty wiring or overheating within the vehicle being considered as possible causes.
