Police in Agona Kwanyarko have arrested two individuals accused of stabbing a commercial motorbike (Okada) rider to death at Agona Okoto-Kwaa in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

The suspects, now in the custody of the Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command, allegedly attacked the rider after hiring his services.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday when the suspects engaged the victim to transport them from Agona Kwanyarko to Agona Okoto-Kwaa.

During the trip, they allegedly instructed him to stop, brandished a knife, and demanded the keys to his motorbike.

When the rider resisted, a struggle ensued, during which he was stabbed in the eye, leaving him unconscious.

He was rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the attack, a group of furious Okada riders stormed the Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command on Wednesday evening, demanding the release of the suspects to take matters into their own hands.

One of the riders who spoke to reporters at the police station, Joseph Mensah, stated that after fleeing with the stolen motorbike, the suspects later attempted another operation in a nearby community, where they were eventually apprehended.
