Two rescued in trailer collision at Asante Akim Central

Two people were rescued following a serious road accident involving two trailers at the Three Lane stretch in Asante Akim Central on Saturday, 5 July, 2025.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Konongo-Odumase Station, responded swiftly after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, officers found two large trailers had collided, one Nigeria-bound Man Diesel with registration JBD 704ZY and another tagged GS 7884-18. The impact left both drivers trapped inside their vehicles.

Rescue operations, led by Leading Fireman Siale, involved advanced techniques including the removal of doors, dashboard manipulation, and pedal extraction to reach and free the victims.

The process was intense and delicate, but the team succeeded in getting both casualties out and transferring them to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions remain undisclosed.

Initial reports from GNFS suggest that trailer GS 7884-18 bore the brunt of the damage, particularly to its front end, while the other trailer sustained rear damage.

The scene reflected the severity of the collision, which has sparked concern about road safety measures on the busy stretch.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
