The Western Central Regional Police Command has apprehended two men suspected of preparing to commit robbery near Asankragua in the Western Region.
The suspects, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, aged 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, were spotted hiding in a bush along a stretch of road in the area.
According to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, the suspects attempted to flee upon seeing a police patrol team.
However, they ended up at an abandoned mining site, where they leapt into a muddy pit in a last-ditch effort to evade capture.
Fortunately, police were able to rescue and arrest them right at the scene.
A search conducted during the arrest resulted in the seizure of one shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and one Nokia keypad mobile phone.
The suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have reassured the community of their dedication to combating crime and ensuring safety in the area.
