UEW sacks convicted MPhil student over fraudulent activities
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has withdrawn the admission of Frank Anderson, an MPhil student from the Department of Special Education.
His expulsion stems from his involvement in fraudulent activities, including fake admissions, forged certificates, and falsified academic records.
Investigations uncovered that Anderson portrayed himself as an individual capable of manipulating grades, fixing IC grades, and securing “protocol admissions” for fees ranging from GHS 1,000 to GHS 3,000.
While he did not gain access to the official grading system, he and his accomplices used fake PDFs and WASSCE certificates to mislead students, primarily operating in areas such as Suhum, Mangoase, Nsawam, and Winneba.
Students who engaged with Anderson’s scheme to alter their grades or who gained entrance to the university through these deceptive means have also been withdrawn.
Currently, Anderson is serving a 13-month jail from after he was convicted by the Winneba High Court for similar offences.
UEW has stated unequivocally that Anderson acted without the institution’s authorisation and has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining academic integrity.
The university’s management has emphasised its commitment to collaborating with the police to ensure that all those involved face appropriate legal repercussions.
