Unidentified gunmen kill three at Binduri

Some unknown gunmen have reportedly killed three individuals at Gumyoko, a suburb of the Binduri District in the Upper East Region.

The victims include two men and a woman.

Reports suggest that the assailants entered the residence of the victims on Saturday night and opened fire, killing all three on the spot.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the killings, as it is not clear what triggered this incident.

Even though calm has been restored after the attack, there is a joint team of military and police in the area to protect lives and property.

This comes after unidentified armed men attacked a cargo truck under military escort and set it ablaze in the region in January 2025.

The assailants ambushed and opened fire on the truck, which was travelling from the border town of Kulungugu to the Bawku township.

The unidentified gunmen quickly fled from the scene after committing the crime.

There were no casualties.

The incident also came barely two days after unknown armed men attacked and set a Kia Rhino truck ablaze at Walewale in the North East Region on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The truck, loaded with bags of vegetables, was en route from Mognori in the Bawku Municipality to Kumasi.

These frequent attacks are believed to be linked to the chieftaincy conflict between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions in the Upper East Region of Bawku.
