The University of Ghana has suspended 14 students for two academic years, citing misconduct and violations of institutional regulations.

Additionally, 97 students have been sanctioned for engaging in examination malpractices. The punishment was meted out to the students after formal hearings confirmed breaches of exam protocols.

The sanctions were detailed in a notice from the Office of the Registrar dated June 16, 2025.

The notice explained that the fourteen students were suspended for two academic years for “disorderly conduct and failure to observe the orders of University authorities,” as per Statutes 42(1)(a) of the University of Ghana Statutes 2011.

The suspensions are retroactive, covering the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years.

The notice signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, emphasised the importance of adherence to university regulations, stating, “All students are advised to familiarise themselves with the University’s regulations and conduct themselves in a manner befitting members of our community”.

The notice was distributed to all university employees and students, with copies sent to senior administrators.
