V8 can also do wonders in my village – Samini jabs Dumelo over new chamber

Dancehall artiste, Samini, has questioned the credibility of actor John Dumelo to advise the government against the construction of a New Chamber of Parliament for $200million.

Reacting to a tweet by Dumelo which suggested that the $200m should rather be used to create factories which will employ the youth, Samini subtly recounted an old political scandal involving John Dumelo and the ownership of a state-owned vehicle.

He posted: “Good point. Same way one #V8 cost can do wonders in my village boss. Did you try to keep it or they lied on you chale .. Ghana wants to know”.

Earlier, Samini made a post which many social media users believed was a broadside aimed at the actor turned farmer.

He posted: “We Dey here wey one of us try to disguise national assets to become his own just because power was changing sides. This same individual has become rich overnight like we didn’t see how it started. How can you think Ghana youth will ever forgive and forget about this 😂y3 kai papa”.

Samini clarified his comments, saying it was non-partisan and speaking in the interest of Ghana about a state asset.

“I’m nonpartisan so I speak freely as no political party pays me to rep them. I’m here for Ghana’s interest and I’m asking my brother who boldly represents a known political party to clear the air about a rumour about him concerning state property #DropThatChamber@johndumelo1 sup,” he posted.

However, Dumelo is not taking the issue lightly and has warned Samini about the many issues he knows about which can damage the musician’s career.

Background

In late March 2017, Dumelo was accused of driving without approval and re-spraying a government vehicle – a black V8 Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GE 8118-16.

He said later in an interview that when the National Security said the vehicle belonged to the state, he asked them to keep it.

“I will never keep a government car, first of all, I am not a government official so I will never keep a government car. I bought the car from somebody, I bought it. So at that point, I wouldn’t say it is a government car or not.”

“After that happened I just bought a new car. The truth of the matter is that this car saga is something that just happened” he added.
