The controversy surrounding the IGP leaked tape has taken a new twist.
COP George Alex Mensah, together with Emmanuel Eric Gyebi and George Lysander Asare, both Superintendents, are in hot water over conversations ostensibly plotting to remove the current IGP, George Akuffo Dampare.
But more evidence from audio and video recordings available to The Ghana Report may suggest that there is no smoke without fire.
The latest recordings to have surfaced show former NPP Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu, in heated exchanges with others over alleged payments from the police.
In one of the videos, some persons in Mr Naabu’s office demanded a share of some monies they suspected Mr Naabu to have pocketed from the police.
“Your share and our share need to come at one place,” the visitor said.
Mr Naabu replied, saying he didn’t want the “old man” [President Akufo-Addo] to know that he lied to get him to offer an appointment in exchange for “back kick”.
“I don’t want that thing to happen,” he pleaded.
But the irate man insisted: “Our entry shows that they will give you money. If they don’t give us, I will not come here; I swear, I will go and tell President”.
