(VIDEO) Wassa Saa enstools new chief after 32 years
The Wassa Saa Traditional Area of the Wassa Amenfi East District in the Western North Region has enstooled a chief 32 years after the last chief died.
Nana Kwame Bukuro has been enstooled as the chief of Wassa Saa with the stool name Nana Masu Akombi III.
Nana Masu Akombi III has been the caretaker chief for the last five years.
According to the Queen Mother of Wassa Saa, Nana Bukurowa, the Wassa Traditional Area has had no substantive chief since the passing of Nana Masu Akombi II in 1992.
Nana Bukurowa further explained that the royal stool became characterised by several deaths; hence, some heirs and royals fled from the town, which left the remaining members of the royal family with no option but to appoint an acting chief.
“My great-grandmother fled this town for fear of losing her firstborn because it became a norm; after 32 years, I was traced to be the rightful heir to the stool as the Queen Mother of Wassa Saa, and subsequently, I had to enstool a chief, ” she stated.

On January 22, 2024, the Wassa Saa Traditional Council finalised the rites and officially unveiled Nana Masu Akombi III as the chief of Wassa Saa.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Kwahu Nkwatia Benkumhene, Nana Baah Oware; Twifo Hemang Mamwerehene, Nana Adubofour; Twifo Hemang Bamuhene, Nana Ebo Asiamah; Gyaase Hemaa, Nana Amedu; Kyidom Hemaa Nana Afua Ampomaa; and the Municipal Chief Executive 0f Wassa Amenfi East.
Nana Masu Akombi III, after the enstoolment, admonished the people of Wassa Saa to contribute their quota to making the town the best in the Western North Region.
