The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released all withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), ending the uncertainty that has lingered for many affected students.
This announcement comes after a lengthy legal struggle and significant pressure from the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), which had threatened to organize nationwide protests if the results were not disclosed.
It will be recalled that WAEC withheld over 10,000 student results due to suspicions of malpractice, but the council assured the students and the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) of releasing the results by February 28th after a court action.
The ruling from the court after aggrieved students pursued legal action necessitated WAEC’s compliance, allowing all affected candidates to finally receive their results.
In an interview, John Kapi, WAEC Head of Public Affairs, confirmed that there were no outstanding results, including those previously involved in legal disputes.

He emphasized that WAEC has remained committed to transparency and fairness throughout this process.
“As we promised, we kept to our word. By the close of 28th February, we had uploaded all the results of candidates whose results had been withheld. The court had ordered us to release those results, and we have duly complied. So as far as those examinations are concerned, there are no outstanding results,” he stated in an interview with Citi News.
Mr. Kapi added that while the results were made public on Friday, WAEC expects that candidates will begin reaching out with questions or concerns the following week.
However, he assured everyone that the released results accurately reflected the candidates’ performance in the examinations.
