WAFCON 2024: Ghana to face Algeria in quarter-finals on July 19

The Black Queens of Ghana are set to face Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The senior women’s national team qualified for the knockout stage of the ongoing tournament in Morocco by finishing second in Group C.

Ghana began their WAFCON campaign with a 2-0 defeat against the defending champions, South Africa.

Following this setback, the team played Mali in a challenging match. Despite creating numerous chances, the Black Queens ended up with a 1-1 draw.

In their final Group C match, the Black Queens needed to secure a win against Tanzania to avoid an early exit.

Under the guidance of coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, the team delivered a strong performance, achieving a convincing 4-1 victory.

This win allowed Ghana to finish second in Group C, earning them a spot in the quarter-finals, where they will now compete against Algeria on Saturday, July 19.
