WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup: Ghana through to the finals after comeback win
The Black Princesses of Ghana have made it to the 2023 WAFU Zone B U20 Girls Cup of Nations tournament finals.
The maiden edition of the tournament is being hosted by Ghana, with Kumasi as the host city.
Today, the Princesses locked horns with their counterparts from Burkina Faso in the first semi-final game of the tournament.
The team from Burkina Faso took to the lead after just four minutes into the game, but their celebration was cut short after the hosts equalised in the 12 minutes from a free kick powered by the captain of the side Stella Nyamekye.
The Ghanaian side proved their dominance in the game when they scored the second goal before halftime courtesy of a rebound strike from Success Ameyaa.
The Burkinabes had an opportunity to draw level from the spot kick after being awarded a penalty, but a heroic display from the Princesses’ goalkeeper ensured that never happened.
Faiza Seidu will find Ghana’s third and ensure the team completes a 3-1 comeback win at the end of the 90 minutes.
Coach Basigi’s girls will face the winner of the semi-final game between Nigeria and Benin.
