We were the better team and deserved to beat Morocco- Kim Bjorkegren on Black Queens loss

Black Queens head coach, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has described his team as the stronger unit that did not deserve to lose in the semifinals of the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON.

The Black Queens were defeated 4-2 in a penalty shootout by Morocco, missing their chance to advance to the finals of the tournament being held in Morocco.

Ghana missed several opportunities, especially in the first half, which ultimately cost them during the penalty shootout, as both Evelyn Badu and Comfort Yeboah failed to convert their attempts.

In a post-game interview, Bjorkegren praised the team’s efforts and expressed his belief that they deserved to win and reach the AFCON finals for the first time since 2006.

“I think we were the better team in this game and I think we deserved to win. We were a little bit unlucky today but I can’t be more proud of the girls and how hard they worked.”
