Woman on motorbike killed in hit-and-run accident

The Ghana Police Service in Koforidua is on a manhunt for a hit-and-run driver who knocked a young lady at the Central Hospital traffic light on Sunday 12th March.

The woman whose identity is yet to be established was on a motorbike and was crushed by a speeding Kia Rhino truck that was heading towards the Charlie Junction area from the Koforidua Polyclinic side.

The driver, according to witnesses, after hitting the lady, made a turn towards the Central Police road without attending to her, though the incident happened less than 40 meters away from the Eastern Regional Hospital.

Police personnel, who arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, assisted to convey the bleeding victim who was unconscious to the hospital.

The police, who have begun investigations, want the public to assist with relevant information which will lead to the arrest of the fugitive driver.

In the same vein, it was reported on 6th January 2023 that a hit-and-run driver crushed a man to death in Koforidua in the Eastern Regional Capital.

The deceased was found in a pool of blood with a severe head injury.

The incident occurred at Abriwa-Nkwanta Oyoko Road near S.D.A Training College.

Officers from NADMO Municipal Secretariat, led by the Municipal Director Mr Herbert Danso together with personnel from the Municipal Police Command, went to the scene to take inventories and conveyed the body to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

NADMO officials, however, claim the man was mentally unstable.
