Work on cassava processing factory for Ketu South begins in two weeks

Construction works will start on a six-acre land at Gbedzekope in the Akame Electoral Area for a Cassava Processing Factory for Ketu South Municipality.

The project, which  is part of the government’s One District One Factory (1D1F)starts in 14 days.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its 2016 electioneering campaign among other things, promised 1D1F nationwide in a bid to industrialise the country.

The Consultant for the project, Dr Cephas Bosomtwi, at a sod-cutting ceremony assured that the contractor would keep to schedule by starting work within a fortnight and complete by October 2020 and asked locals to support the project for early completion.

“There’s no need to worry at all. Very soon, you’ll hear the sound of a factory and I have to say that this factory will not be like the others we hear of at some parts of the country where the raw materials to feed those factories become problematic,” he said.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu South, Elliot Edem Agbenorwu, said the factory, expected to produce ethanol as its main product aside starch, gari and other bye products, will provide jobs for a good number of residents and help in reducing graduate unemployment.

He said the project was a manifestation of the government’s commitment to fulfill its promises to the people and hoped Ketu South would do the right thing by retaining the NPP in power.

“This is not the green book or the bluebook by any political party telling us that they have done this and yet you cannot see the real thing on the ground. This is the real thing and the people are happy that the President is fulfilling his promises and the people are promising the President that they will retain him and vote for the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, so the game can change.”

David Tiahno Quarshie, the Parliamentary candidate for Ketu South NPP, said it was time Ketu South voted for an NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for unprecedented development in the area, saying, even with just one MCE, a lot of development projects had taken place, which could equal those done when the area had a Minister, an MP and an MCE in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
