The National Teaching Council (NTC) has commenced the issuance of 19,484 licences to newly qualified teachers and other teachers exempted from the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination.

The exercise, which started on May 15, is expected to end across the country on June 14, 2023.

According to the National Teaching Council, centres have been created in the regions for the teachers to go for their licences.

A statement from the National Teaching Council indicated that the Greater Accra Region had 5,447 teachers, the largest, while the Savanna Region had 189, the least number.

Meanwhile, the Registrar for the National Teaching Council, Dr Christian Addai-Poku, has noted that the separate centres for distributing the licenses will enhance the effectiveness of the exercise.

He appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with the personnel assigned to the exercise.

The registrar appealed to all education directors to actively monitor the process to ensure success.

Dr Addai-Poku said NTC would continue to implement policies and measures to ensure that teachers work with the right qualifications.
