2023/24 Ghana Premier League Week 27: Match Report – Legon Cities 2-0 Accra Hearts of Oak

Legon Cities secured a commanding 2-0 win over Accra Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League’s 27th week, played on Saturday afternoon at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The victory marked a significant milestone for Legon Cities, who were previously in 13th position with 32 points, while Accra Hearts of Oak occupied the 9th spot with 35 points.

The match began with both teams fighting for dominance in the midfield. Despite the efforts of both sides’ attackers, neither was able to find the back of the net as the first half drew to a close. However, the tide turned in the second half when Legon Cities launched a swift attack into Accra Hearts of Oak’s half, resulting in a goal by Albert Yeboah in the 55th minute.

In an attempt to regain control, Accra Hearts of Oak made several substitutions in the 61st minute, with Salim Adams, Salifu Ibrahim, and Yaw Amankwa Baafi replacing David Oppong Afrane, Enock Asuboteng, and Linda Mtange. Unfortunately, their efforts were thwarted when Albert Yeboah scored his second goal of the afternoon in the 67th minute, extending Legon Cities’ lead to 2-0.

Legon Cities will face Berekum Chelsea in their next league game, while Accra Hearts of Oak will go head-to-head with Accra Lions FC.
