2023 Afcon: I expect Ghana to finish as runners-up to Egypt – Mohammed Polo

Ghana football legend, Mohammed Polo says he is expected the Black Stars to finish as runners-up in Group B in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The West African country who are chasing its fifth continental title has been housed in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.

With the 34th edition of the AFCON scheduled to get underway in Ivory Coast in nine days, Polo, who is an AFCON winner says he expects Ghana to progress to the next round by finishing as runners-up to Egypt in their group.

“I expect Ghana to qualify as runner-up to Egypt in Group Two, but advancement will not be easy in the presence of Cape Verde and Mozambique,” he told btolat.com.

The Black Stars on Tuesday, January 2 opened camp in Kumasi and held their first training at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese.

The team will continue their preparations and are expected to play Namibia on January 8 at the Baba Yara Stadium in a friendly game before departing on January 10.

The Black Stars of Ghana will first come up against Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on January 14, 2024, then face Egypt at the same venue four days later and then Mozambique at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on January 22, 2024.
