2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana players to report for pre-tournament on Sunday, December 31

Ghana players will report for their pre 2023 Africa Cup of Nations camping on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

This was confirmed by the Ghana Football Association on Sunday, December 25, in an official statement confirming Johannesburg, South Africa as their camping destination ahead the tournament in January.

The Black Stars will then play a friendly match against Botswana in Johannesburg on Monday, January 8, 2024 before flying to Abidjan two days later for the tournament.

Ghana is set to open their group stage campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024 – that is in 18 days.

The Black Stars will then play against record champions Egypt in their second group match against Egypt in four days before wrapping up the group face against Mozambique on January 22.

By January 2024, it will be 42 years since Ghana last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1982.

Expectations of the Black Stars breaking that jinx are very low after the recent low performances by the team in the last four years.
