2024 Futsal: Ghana accepts underdog tag ahead of Zambia clash

The head coach of Ghana’s Futsal National Team, Philip Boakye, anticipates a challenging but promising start to the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations as his team prepares to face Zambia in their first group game.

Boakye acknowledges Ghana’s underdog status but expresses confidence in his team’s ability to surprise.

“We are the underdogs,” Boakye said ahead of the opener at the pre-match press engagement.

“Zambia has a very good team and they qualified from the playoffs. We’re here to qualify for the World Cup and that’s our ambition,” Philip added.

Scheduled for Thursday at 17:00 GMT in Rabat’s Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Ghana’s encounter with Zambia marks their second appearance in the fast-paced indoor football competition, with their debut dating back to 1996.

The tournament, set to unfold from April 11 to April 21, 2024, will showcase intense competition in the Moroccan capital.

Ghana coach Philip Boakye and his boys will be hoping to lift the ultimate after not winning it in their debut appearance.
