The Twifo Praso District Court has sentenced a 25-year-old fetish priest to six months imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a six-year-old girl at Twifo Ampekro in the Central Region.
The Twifo Praso District court presided over by His Worship Maxwell Ofori Kpodo, delivered the judgement on Monday, July 3, 2023.
The convict, John Afedzi. also signed a two-year good behaviour bond.
He was charged with indecent assault (fingering), contrary to section 103 of the criminal and other offences (ACT 29) 1960.
Afedzi, a popular priest in the area, was reported to the police for sexually assaulting the KG2 girl at Twifo Ampekro Shed D/A Basic School in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District.
According to the victim’s mother, Madam Sarah Antwi, she observed a change in how her daughter walked, and the little girl cried anytime she was urinating.
She approached her daughter to find out what was wrong and was stunned to have found out that the child had been defiled.
Madam Sarah Antwi immediately reported the matter to the Twifo Ampekro Shed unit committee. After in-depth investigations by the unit committee, it emerged that John Afedzi was responsible for fingering the child.
The victim’s parents took her to the Twifo Praso District Hospital, where it was confirmed that some forceful friction had occurred in the child’s genitals.
In an interview, the mother disclosed that the child currently experiences excruciating pain whenever she urinates and cannot walk properly.
