A 29-year-old disc jockey with Mankessim-based Coastal FM, Kwame Egyama, has been found dead in a police cell in Mankessim in the Central Region.

Kwame, who doubles as a taxi driver, was arrested by the Jedu Police after he refused to stop for a routine check by a police team on duty.

He was found dead in the cell a day after his arrest.

The death of Egyama has sparked outrage in the community as family members and other residents seek justice for their beloved.

“There was a window at the cell, and it would have been difficult for someone to commit a crime. What I heard was that after he committed the act, the policemen on duty heard a loud noise. They quickly rushed him to the hospital.

“He was not dead at the time but died at the hospital. I want to know why no family member was present when they took him to the hospital,” a source revealed.

The bereaved family has called for a thorough investigation into the incident, which led to the passing away of Kwame Egyama in the police cell.
