Three first-year students of the Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Ashanti Region have been suspended over a leaked sex tape on campus.
The students have been handed a one-year suspension as a consequence of their involvement in the scandal.
The decision was reached during a meeting with the school’s disciplinary committee, where the students admitted their offence.
The scandal involved a male student who attempted to blackmail two first-year Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College students in Kumasi.
The sex tape was leaked after the lady in the video had given her faulty phone to a colleague to repair for her.
The blackmailer, having copied the video from the phone, demanded GHs5,000 from the female student and threatened to release the video if she did not comply.
With the lady unable to meet the blackmailer’s financial demand, the video was strategically released at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2023
In an interview, the Public Relations Officer of the Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Williams Adinkra, confirmed that “the two people captured in the video have confessed to recording their sexual act off campus. The other male student, who the lady gave her phone to repair for her, has also confessed to leaking the video on campus. Therefore, all three nursing students in the college have been suspended for one academic year. Our decision is in line with the code of conduct of the Ministry of Health,’’ he said.
However, Adinkra disclosed the two students captured in the leaked video are currently undergoing psychological therapy arranged by the college.
