32-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide at Aburansa

A 32-year-old steel bender, identified as Joseph Mensah, has committed suicide at Aburansa in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality of the Central Region.

The victim was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope in his room.

Information gathered indicates that the victim was facing some financial challenges, which made him struggle to survive and support his family.

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, when his wife and child had left for church, he allegedly hanged himself in the room, only for his wife to come back from church to see him hanging.

According to the wife of the deceased, she was shocked to see her husband hanging because he didn’t show any signs of depression in the morning before leaving the house for church.

She said, though they are facing financial challenges, she never suspected it would lead to his demise.

The deceased was said to be planning to travel to the city to seek greener pastures to take care of himself and the family.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

The case has been reported to the Komenda Police Station for investigation.

Suicide has become common in recent times.

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, residents of Wlitey-Dalikope in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region were thrown into a state of shock after a man, believed to be in his late 20s, was found dead at his home in the area.

The deceased, whose name was given as Prosper Kofi Ankuga, was alleged to have committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope tied to a mango tree at his house in Wlitey-Dalikope, a suburb of Akatsi.

On Saturday, November 25, 2023, a 58-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Oteng committed suicide at Pumpside, a suburb of Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

The deceased was believed to have been battling an intense boil disease for a long time.

He purportedly left an emotional suicide note to his wife and children, suggesting the contribution they made towards his battle with the disease.

Also, on November 11, 2023, it was reported that police in Abofour, in Offinso, in the Ashanti Region, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 35-year-old man, said to have committed suicide following the passing of his mother.

Identified as Peter Boakye Yiadom, known in the area as K.T., a drinking spot operator, he allegedly shot himself at the spot.
