7 players recovering from Covid-19 in race against time to be named in Black Star squad

Black Stars Coach CK Akonnor is expected to name his squad for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan next week.

According to the report, the Black Stars Management Committee together with the Ghana Football Association have all received the list of invited players, with the coach now expected to make the announcement public in the coming days.

Seven players believed to be key members of his set-up contracted coronavirus while on international duty two weeks ago.

The players; Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew, German-based Kasim Nuhu, Vitoria Guimaraes left-back Gideon Mensah, Celta Vigo defender Joseph Aidoo, Turkey-based Joseph Attamah Larweh, and Besiktas midfielder Bernard Mensah are likely to be included in the squad.

The players are expected to resume full-scale training at their respective clubs after making positive recoveries in the last couple of days.

The Black Stars will battle Sudan in a double-header in November as part of the qualifiers for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars currently top the group with two wins out of two matches, and a win over Sudan could surely guarantee them a place at the competition in 2022.
