8 Signs A Woman Has The Dreaded ‘Daddy Issues’
Daddy issues seem to be the latest trend these days. Maybe women talk about them for attention, or maybe they feel no shame and just don’t give a shit anymore.
Most women with daddy issues know that romance for them is a special kind of hell, and most of society seems to know that, too. As a young woman with daddy issues, I embrace the demon and try to be upfront with people about the signs I could show, as I know them all too well by now.
But some women are not as comfortable admitting or acknowledging their demon named ‘daddy issues’. And that means everyone involved is probably in for a bad time. Here are 8 signs a woman has the dreaded daddy issues.
1. She’s constantly craving attention from her partner and everyone else.
Even if she has a significant other, their attention alone might not be enough to satisfy a girl with daddy issues. She’ll probably take to social media to fish for compliments and validation, and may entertain the guys who slide into her DMs that shower her with compliments.
2. She has a thing for older men.
Her father was most likely absent from her life in one way or another. So, she seeks out father figures to romantically attach herself to.
3. She sabotages her healthy romantic relationships.
If a woman with daddy issues experiences a healthy, committed relationship, she may unknowingly (or knowingly) screw it up. She’s not used to what a healthy romantic relationship entails, so she’ll reject it even at her own expense.
4. She thinks she likes to be dominated during sex, but can’t handle it at all.
She may talk the talk, but when it gets down to it, being dominated makes her feel sad, humiliated, and abandoned. Just like her father made her feel.
5. She has trust issues…
She has had walls up since her father broke her deep-seated trust. She’ll likely be reluctant or flat-out refuse to open up or trust anyone without making them jump through hoops.
6. …and commitment issues…
She can’t commit because she’s afraid nobody will stick around. Or because that would mean she can’t seek attention from the rest of the world anymore. A lack of attention scares her.
7. …AND abandonment issues
Unfortunately, abandonment issues can make her a little irrational and illogical in relationships, which pushes people away and reinforces the abandonment cycle she perpetuates.
8. She prefers to date single fathers.
She’s looking for the father she didn’t have. This is problematic for a single father because he’s already raising actual children, and doesn’t need the rollercoaster of a grown woman who can’t regulate her emotions. She may subconsciously use him to fulfill a void that has nothing to do with romance or love.
Daddy issues create many more issues that can negatively affect a woman’s love life. She’s made up of more than daddy issues, but if she has yet to acknowledge or work through them, the better parts have a hard time breaking through the surface.
If you’ve got daddy issues, or know someone who shows some or all of these signs, get to work! Daddy issues may complicate things, but even women with this type of demon deserve great romantic relationships.
