Andre Ayew finally appears before parliament to explain poor 2021 AFCON campaign

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has appeared before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth and Sports to answer questions over the national team’s disastrous showing at the 2021 AFCON.

The Black Stars had a poor showing at the 2021 AFCON held in Cameroon after failing to win any of their games in the group stages.

It is the worst performance of the Black Stars in AFCON history after exiting the tournament in the group stage.

Months ago, Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports began an inquest into the Black Stars’ poor campaign at the AFCON and demanded that Ayew, as captain, appeared to answer some questions.

But the former Marseille forward was unable to appear before Parliament due to his engagement at club level in Qatar.

On Thursday, the Al Sadd star finally appeared before the Committee to answer questions on the team’s poor performance in the 2021 AFCON.

After answering questions from the individual members of the committee, the 31-year-old presented them with a signed jersey.
